A therapist-owned practice · Houston, TX

We don't do journeys.
We do therapy.

Founded by Katie Thornton, LCSW. Licensed in eight states. Most insurance accepted. Self-pay $150.

The first session is fifteen minutes and free. Long enough to know if it's a fit. If it isn't, I'll tell you who is.

— 01 / How we work

Therapy, in plain English.

Three things that should be the floor, not the ceiling. We've made them the brand.

01.

In-network with most major plans, including Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, TriWest, and Medicare. We verify your benefits before your first session. You won't get a surprise bill from us.

We take insurance.
The way it's supposed to work.

02.

A free fifteen-minute call with the actual therapist. No intake forms. No sales script. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you — and recommend someone who is.

Fifteen minutes
to know.

03.

Twice-monthly direct deposit. No clawbacks. No caseload pressure. We handle billing, credentialing, and EHR so you can focus on the work. Splits are transparent and discussed before you sign — and we don't change them after.

Built for clinicians.

In her own words
"My dad died by suicide when I was fourteen."

I was lucky. I had a therapist who didn't try to fix me — she just kept showing up. That's the practice I built.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, EMDR-trained, licensed in eight states. I see clients with grief, trauma, PTSD, addiction, relationship transitions, and the kinds of life shifts that don't have a name yet.

Flow Therapy isn't a tech product. It's a small practice that takes itself seriously about the work and not too seriously about anything else. We answer the phone. We see clients on time. We bill correctly. That's the whole thing.

For Therapists

You went to school for therapy.
Not for billing.

Built by a therapist who got tired of calling insurance companies on a Friday afternoon. We handle the parts you hate — so you can do the work you trained for.

Transparent splits.

Twice-monthly direct deposit. No clawbacks. You'll know the split before you sign — and we don't change it after.

Your hours, your caseload.

Set what you want. We don't backfill you to someone else's quota. You're not interchangeable.

Admin, handled.

Credentialing. Insurance verification. Eligibility checks. EHR. Claims. The parts that make clinicians quit.

Clinical autonomy.

Bring your modality. EMDR, CBT, IFS, somatic, narrative — we don't tell you how to work. You're the clinician.

Asked & answered

Questions, answered honestly.

How long is the waitlist?

For new clients, the current wait for a first session is about two weeks. The fifteen-minute consult can usually happen within three business days. If you're in crisis and can't wait, please call 988 — we'll see you as soon as we can, but a crisis line is the right tool for an emergency.

Do you take my insurance?

Most likely. We're in-network with Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, BCBS of Texas, Humana, Optum, Oscar, Kaiser Permanente, TriWest, Medica, UMR, and Medicare. If you're not sure, send us your member ID and we'll verify before you commit to a first session.

What if I don't like you?

Then we're not a fit. That's not a problem — that's the whole point of the fifteen-minute consult. If we're not right for what you need, I'll tell you who is. No hard feelings, no guilt trip, no "let's give it three sessions and see." You'll know quickly.

Will my employer find out I'm in therapy?

No. If you use insurance, your employer doesn't see your diagnosis or your sessions — only your insurer does, and they're bound by HIPAA. If you prefer absolute privacy, the self-pay route ($140/hr) keeps your mental health off all records except your therapist's encrypted ones.

What's a VA Nexus Letter?

A clinical document that links a current mental health condition to a veteran's military service — used when filing or appealing a VA disability claim. We produce these for PTSD, MST, depression, and anxiety conditions with thorough documentation and clinical reasoning. The consultation is 30 minutes; the letter is $750.

I'm a therapist. How do I apply?

The For Therapists section above has the details. We're looking for fully licensed LPC, LCSW, or LMFT clinicians who want clinical autonomy without the administrative tax of running a private practice. Use the therapist application form on our contact page.

Next step
